Bentofix Thermal Lock Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCLs) are needle-punched reinforced composites which combine two durable geotextile outer layers with a uniform core of natural sodium bentonite clay to form a hydraulic barrier.
GCLs use a naturally occurring clay that swells as water enters between its clay platelets. When hydrated under confinement, the bentonite swells to form a low permeability clay layer with the equivalent hydraulic protection of several feet of compacted clay.
This process results in a strong mechanical bond between the fabrics. A proprietary heat treating process – the Thermal Lock process – is then used to modify and more permanently lock the needle-punched fibres into place. Properties include increased internal shear resistance and long term creep resistance.
Hydroseeding is a process of mixing seed, fertilizer, tackifier and wood with water in correct proportions inside a tank, then spraying the mixture onto designated areas.
This process works so well since the seed is suspended in a nutrient rich slurry. The mulch layer seals in the moisture, and holds the grass seed in place while acting like a mini-"Greenhouse Effect".

Drill seeding is an agricultural process completed with a tractor, and a specialized seeding attachment called a drill. The drill utilizes a mechanical implement to open a furrow, place the seed in the soil at a certain depth, then cover the seed with wheels or packing mechanism.

Cellular confinement systems—also known as geocells—are widely used in construction for erosion control, soil stabilization on flat ground and steep slopes, channel protection, and structural reinforcement for load support and earth retention.
Typical cellular confinement systems are made with ultrasonically welded high-density polyethylene strips or novel polymeric alloy, and expanded on-site to form a honeycomb-like structure. This is then filled with sand, soil, rock, gravel or concrete.
Gabion baskets are manufactured from 8x10 double twisted hexagonal woven steel wire mesh, as per ASTM A975-97. These baskets are filled with stones at the project site to form flexible, permeable, monolithic structures such as retaining walls, channel linings, and weirs for erosion control projects.
The steel wire used in the manufacture of the gabion is a heavy Galfan- (zinc-5% aluminum-mischmetal [Zn-5 Al-MM] alloy) coated soft temper steel. A PVC coating is then applied to provide additional protection for use in polluted, contaminated or aggressive environments: in salt, fresh water, acid soil or wherever the risk of corrosion is present. The PVC coating has a nominal thickness of 0.02 in. (0.50 mm).
The gabion is divided into cells by diaphragms positioned at approximately 3 ft (0.9m) centers. To reinforce the structure, all mesh panel edges are selvedged with a wire having a greater diameter. Gabions shall be manufactured and shipped with all components mechanically connected at the production facility.
Reno mattresses are woven mesh systems used for river bank and scour protection, channel linings for erosion control, and embankment stability. They are filled with rock at the project site to form flexible and permeable structures to promote rapid growth of natural vegetation.
Reno mattresses are environmentally friendly products. The blending of reno mattress structures into the environment is rapid and pleasing as the rockfill become progressively filled with silt. This promotes vegetation growth which is essential to the preservation and maintenance of the ecological balance of the surrounding environment.
This system has the capability of withstanding unexpected and/or localized stresses due to ground settlements and scour by deflection while maintaining its structural integrity. The stone fill allows the water to seep through the structure while retaining the soil, therefore no additional drainage is required to relieve the hydrostatic pressures.
